Abstract

The Covid19 pandemic have a widespread impact on socio-economic casualties and losses. In anticipating the impact, every organization needs to be adaptive by adopting new normal with new standards, culture and work values that are healthier, safer and productive. This paper evaluates what is the impact and recovery of Covid19  to BPS future, and proposes a new normal in managing statistical data by taking a case study in the BPS Bungo District.

The results of the analysis show that there are direct impacts of Covid19 on BPS. These impacts are lowered direct interaction with respondents, reduced activity in the field and decreased speed of respondents in providing information. Another impact is the reduced intensity of coordination and outreach, field data collection, and presentation of data on social statistics, production, distribution, regional balance sheets and other thematic statistics. Online data collection in the field is not easy because of the lack of community understanding, and the unpreparedness of equipment owned by the community, limited internet access.

In facing these changes, BPS still has an important role in providing accurate, up-to-dated and timely basic data. In carrying out this role, BPS needs to implement new actions and new ways of working to maintain the scope, completeness, novelty and quality of the data by undertaking a series of changes (transformation) and redesign (redesign) in data management, human resources, technology and infrastructure and risk management.
